About Medication Management

Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners/Psychiatrists provide psychiatric evaluations or consultations for a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns. Following a comprehensive assessment the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner /Psychiatrist will discuss treatment options, including recommendations for therapy (individual, family, group, or in-home) and medications. Treatment recommendations are based on the severity of symptoms and safety concerns at the psychiatric evaluation.

David Forbes brings over 25 years of compassionate, expert care in psychiatric nursing to individuals and families across the lifespan. A proud New York City native and bilingual provider, David is deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all clients—regardless of age, gender, or background.
 
David’s journey into mental health care began with service. He is a retired military veteran who served as a Combat Medic with two combat tours, later becoming a U.S. Marine and then an Army Nurse. After earning graduate degrees in education and nursing, he completed a dual master’s program in Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Practice Nursing.
 
Throughout his career, David has worked in a wide range of settings, including:
  • Inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
  • Addiction and recovery services (including methadone and Suboxone treatment)
  • Homeless and correctional health care
  • Academic instruction for future Nurse Practitioners at the University of Maryland.
 
David provides comprehensive psychiatric services, including:
 
  • Psychiatric evaluations (including pre-surgical assessments)
  • Medication management
  • Individual therapy
  • Trauma-informed care for PTSD, mood disorders, and more
  • His approach is holistic, integrating physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and life circumstances to support long-term healing and resilience. His goal is to help clients build coping skills, improve functioning, and enhance overall quality of life.
